Unfortunately, many Christians today live in a kind of spiritual Neverland, where they attend church, live a good Christian life, strongly believe that the Bible is true, and even tell others about Jesus, but yet in their own hearts, somehow God does not seem as real or near to them as He should. Or possibly you gave your heart to Jesus many years ago, but as time has gone by, the excitement has waned, time spent with God in prayer and in reading His Word has dwindled down to next to nothing and it is almost is like you are following a Christian Philosophy, a set of principles to live your life by, with the belief that at least if this is all true, you will make it to heaven one day. But is this all that God wants for his children?

Now imagine a Christian life, where it seems like the things of God come alive fresh everyday. Wherever you go, you sense that He is there with you. There is an ever present fountain of joy that just seems to just bubble up from inside you. There is a deep peace that guards your heart day and night. It is almost unexplainable, but you just know that God is real, that you are investing your life in something eternal. You are not as fearful about the future as you once were. The old habits that that sidetracked you for years now seem not to be very tempting anymore. It is almost like the sky looks bluer, the grass looks a little greener and that serving God is the most exciting thing that you can imagine now.

The great news is that this is what God has provided for all of us. It is not just for the “Superstar Christians” or just His ministers. It is the normal Christian life we all have privileged access to, what He wants for each and every believer. Now, if this is God’s wonderful provision for all, how does this transformation of your spiritual life come about?

It is very simple. When we are born again, God Himself, by the power of His Holy Spirit, created our new spirit in His image, and forever joined His Spirit to our newly created inner man. In other words, there is a little piece of God deposited inside of you now, permanently. This is what we all refer to as Jesus coming into our hearts. But why just stop there? That is just the beginning. When Jesus came into this world as a baby, He grew into an adult, He became filled with the Power of the Holy Spirit and carried out His ministry. Yet, all too often, when Jesus comes into our hearts, we just keep him as a baby in the manger of our hearts, When He comes into us, our baby spirit with Him inside must grow just like the baby Jesus did when He was on earth. Jesus studied the scriptures and spent much time with God the Father in prayer. Our spirit grows the same way as His did and as it does, it becomes more and more filled with the very life of God Himself. As that life of God inside of us gets stronger, automatically the things of God become more real and alive to us. Jesus said “but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4: 14 NIV. What we call getting closer to God is really more and more of the life of God Himself being released out of our own spirits.

So what do we have to do now? “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8 NIV is a spiritual law, it cannot fail. It is just as certain as the law of gravity. It works every time, day or night, wherever in the world you are, whatever age you lived in.

But now we have to take that step of faith, to make time in our daily lives to seek God, to pray, to feed on His Word. God has already done everything He is going to do until you do something. The ball is in your court. But if you do, without fail he will do his part. As Jesus said “And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” John 14:21 NKJV

It a spiritual law. It cannot fail. Indescribable things await you. Now what will you do?
